Meet Erick Cardenas. He has been Quality Manager at our Mexican operation since April 2019. But what makes him so special, is that when his working shift at the automotive supplier is over, he turns to the cars themselves. Not just any cars – only the classic ones!
Erick believes that his passion started, when his father bought a used car many years ago. “My brother and I had some ideas on how it could look better.” They both still share the same interest and meanwhile have fully restored more than ten classic cars. Actually, they do not possess them all any more. “We enjoy them for some time and after that, if we find somebody who is really interested, we sell them again”, as he explains.
Pure imagination
In order to find the next object of desire, they usually search on the Internet, visit used car markets or just keep an open eye when travelling through small villages. “We only care for classic cars that have no rusted metal”, says Erick. When they have found their next project, they decide on what needs to be done, what could look good and get started. Overall, restoring a classic car including a paint job takes them at least three to four months. Their first success story was a VOLKSWAGEN Beetle. Among others were a FORD Bronco, FORD Maverick and VOLKSWAGEN Golf. As Erick describes his love for these vintage and distinctive trucks and cars: “Anybody can buy a new car. But for these classic ones you need more than money – time, patience, fantasy, knowledge and talent!” Above all, he has the demand for the highest quality. That of course applies to both areas – Work & Life.
