TELL ME MORE

The charming appeal of our homeland

There are a lot of stories in every issue of KXpress about our sites and plants located around the world. What we don’t often read about, however, are the other interesting attractions that can be found near our plants. Three employees from China, Germany, and Slovakia tell us about the special features of their home region.

“The Oriental Saltlake Resort is located in Jintan Maoshan, a famous Taoist mountain in China. It’s a national tourist resort known for the unique natural resources (e.g. mountains, water, salt and tea). It is also known as a center for the Taoist culture (Taoism = “live like nature wants you to”). I visited it with my family on Family Day. The trip was organized by the company and I was deeply impressed by the beautiful natural scenery and special culture. We visited DaoTianXia (The World of Dao) Mountain Town. „Dao“ refers to Daoism, which means the unity of nature and human, and it was put forward by Laozi (Lao Tzu), a famous Chinese philosopher in the Spring and Autumn period (770 BC-476 BC). The town is built close to the mountain, and the buildings are integrated perfectly with it, which also reflects the harmonious connection between human and nature.

The Chinese Taoist Culture Museum, which lies in the city center is well worth visiting. It’s the first museum in China to fully display the five-thousand-year old history of Chinese Taoist culture and its recent development in both, China and worldwide.”

“I actually came from the big city and have now arrived in the small but beautiful town of Homberg an der Ohm. I now understand why so many want people want to live in this area. You feel connected to the town and the companies located here – even a bit of pride when you can say that you are part of KAMAX. A company that is deeply rooted in the town of Homberg through its history. At the same time, there really is something for everyone in Homberg. It is a place that is both traditional and modern: Rural life right on the doorstep and the vibrant cities of Giessen or Marburg are only a 20-30 minute drive away. The perfect compromise for city kids and country folk.

My favorite spot is the castle in the center of Homberg. You have a breathtaking 360 degree view from there. Especially in the summer months, the castle is a great place to enjoy the peace, nature and beauty of this city. But the castle embodies the city’s long tradition as well. Thus, the people of Homberg rarely miss one of the castle beer gardens that take place every two weeks throughout the summer. As a lover of good beer, or for the local cold cider that is also really good, you are in good company here.”

“One of the most magical places in Bardejov, for me is the famous Bardejov spa. It is less than four kilometers from the center of Bardejov and a very popular place for all Bardejov residents. The entire spa complex has a beautiful park setting, complemented by a number of contemporary and historical works of art. The surrounding forests offer opportunities for sports, barbecues, and relaxation by the lake.

The spa has a cinema (there is no other cinema in Bardejov city) and a summer swimming pool. In the spa, you can fill your own bottle with mineral water for free, there are several different mineral springs to choose from, which are especially suitable for digestive problems.”
