Running for KAMAX
Museros, 23 September, 6.30 pm. The 30 degrees Celsius do not seem to intimidate the newly formed KAMAX running team in Spain. Although some members have been with KAMAX for years and others have only recently joined, the team spirit is contagious. Before the start of the race, they meet, do exercises, and exchange laughs and anecdotes. The second edition of the Museros 7 km, which we sponsor, is about to start.
In the seven decades of KAMAX’s existence in Museros, there have been many changes, especially last year with the handover of the management. The family character that defines us and the hard work of previous generations is not forgotten, but in this new phase, we have focused on different initiatives. One of them is “KAMAX on the move.” The aim, in a nutshell, is to recognize, care for, and promote the well-being of each one of us.
19 runners signed up
This is how the idea of the KAMAX running team was born. It is an initiative where we can all come together, spend a moment away from work, exercise, and reaffirm the team spirit that defines us. In addition, by creating this club, we pay a small tribute to the groups that have been disbanded. There are currently 19 runners on the team and we hope to see this number increase in subsequent events. All you need is a pair of running shoes, a company t-shirt, and the desire to join in.
The group gathers to collect their running badge, pose for the team photo, and warm up their joints. The race begins in the Plaza del Castillo with the exciting “bang” of the starting gun. It goes through the most famous streets and squares of Museros until it finally ends in the Calle Major.
7 km in 22 minutes
Despite the heat, the runners achieved very competitive results. Nacho García of the Selection Machines made it to the podium. He came in second with an exceptional time of 25:07 minutes. The winner of the 7 km race crossed the finish line in 22:29 minutes. Our fastest runner told us that he started training when he was nine years old, but had not competed for a long time. Thanks to Vicent Albert, his team leader, he decided to sign up.
P&C coordinator Borja Revert, was close on his heels and arrived only seconds later (25:11), followed by our new operations engineer Dani Lluch (28:59). The management reached the finish line almost together: José García (CCO) with a result of 30:20 and Pedro Sáez (CFO) at 31:15 minutes. Congratulations to all of them!
The next dates are already on the calendar: It is a great way to get to know the streets and sights of Valencia in a healthy way, to socialize, and to demonstrate to the market not only our bolts’ durability of but also the strength of our KAMAX Running Team. We encourage you to put on your running shoes and company t-shirt for the next event!
