What defines us

On average, colleagues in the KAMAX Group stay longer with the company than employees in other businesses. Some even work with us for their entire professional lives. Despite all adversities, there are many people around the world who have been part of our team for decades. What distinguishes KAMAX for you? What are some of your most memorable moments? We talked to three experienced and one young colleague.

„I have been with KAMAX for 37 years now. I started my apprenticeship as an industrial clerk in 1986. After the apprenticeship, I was a clerk in the mainenance workshop. That was at a time, when there were still meal cards and time cards. But it was also one of the best times. I still remember how the machines were always switched off at noon on the last day before Christmas and how we celebrated the holiday together in the plant!

Since then, I have gone my own way at KAMAX. I supported the toolshop, and I was part of maintenance before transferring to quality management in 2006. I was also lucky enough to meet the daughter of our founder, Eugenie Burgholte-Kellermann. She did a lot for the women in the company back then, and was always accessible for us.

In general, I have always experienced an unbelievable team spirit among my colleagues. At my wedding party before the wedding, it felt like half the company was there. This solidarity is still there and that motivates me every day. At the same time, in my current function in quality, a new challenge awaits me almost every day: I never know exactly what is coming. The combination of all these things is why I have fun at work every day!“

“I have been a loyal member of the Galol family for 26 years now: my professional journey began in 1997 at the age of 21, when I joined the phosphating department. The years 2000 and 2005 were particularly exciting. I was sent to Toledo (Spain) and South Korea to open new plants for our company. In 2008, my path led me back to the plant in L‘Olleria, where I have been contributing my expertise to the logistics department ever since.

Galol has not only given me with a stable path in life, but also made the wonderful encounter with my wife possible: she still works here and her father, now well-deservedly retired, was one of the pioneers of this company. Despite other offers, I have always decided to stay!

Galol joining the KAMAX Group gave me the feeling of being part of a multinational company that promises not only continuity but also exciting new projects. I am happy to pass on this positive attitude to the new colleagues who find their way into our team.

I would especially like to mention the company dinner for the entire staff including relatives last year, on the occasion of Galol‘s 50th anniversary. There, I had the honour of being awarded a badge for my special services!”

It has been 23 years since Jan Urbanec joined KAMAX as a specialist in HNM machines. The group leaders from Secondary Operation remember that time: “Mr. Urbanec is one of those, who helped establish the department. When something new is created, it is important to lay the foundations and see what kind of people are involved. Thanks to colleagues like Mr. Urbanec – very hardworking and skilled that Secondary Operation is still in excellent condition, even after so many years. Whenever needed, he came, made the changeover, adjusted the machine, and it all went smoothly like a spring breeze.”

What deserves even more admiration is that he has officially retired for 13 years now, but decided to stay at KAMAX. Jan Urbanec (74 years old) remembers his job: “I fondly remember the years spent at KAMAX. I always enjoyed working in Secondary Operations. I can not complain about anything. I never had problems with anyone, and when there was a hitch in production, we always discussed it with the shiftleader. I have never suffered from a lack of support here. At the same time, we also had perfect relations on the shopfloor, we always found some opportunity to laugh with my colleagues, come up with other ideas. We prepared various pranks for each other I remember how someone painted the buttons on my machine, so I ended up with blue hands all over.”

“I‘ve always enjoyed it here. You come up with different ideas; you go out for a beer with friends after work and it tastes completely different.” Over the years, there was already a lot to do, getting up became more and more demanding, and that‘s why Mr. Urbanec decided to finally quit. We wish Mr. Urbanec that he prospers, that his health serves him well, and that he can devote himself as long as possible to what he loves so much – wandering through the woods and picking mushrooms.

“I started in 2020 in the area of Engineering as an intern. During that year, I had the opportunity to participate and contribute in the start-up and commissioning of the LAZPIUR automatic inspection machine, which was the first equipment in Mexico, and also in the installation of the HTL2 Heat Treatment Furnace. Subsequently, in 2021 I was promoted as Quality Team Leader, and in 2022 as APQP Engineer, working directly with new customer projects for DAIMLER, Mercedes Benz, Stellantis and Schaeffler.

For me to have joined the KAMAX group means a lot, and I am deeply grateful for having been given the opportunity to have my first work experience here as well as to offer me continuous development. Working at KAMAX is to be part of a great team that is inclusive and committed to diversity, where colleagues with more seniority within the company take the time to share their experience with the new generations.

The challenges at KAMAX never end and it is something that I value because it constantly motivates you to keep learning. Currently, I work as a Quality Engineer, focused on providing direct customer service. KAMAX is a great company because it is committed to attracting, retaining and developing its most important asset, which is its people. I am confident that the company will continue to provide me with opportunities for growth and development.”
