My machine and me

What is your job at KAMAX like?

I work on the SP48-6 – a 5-stage press that uses five different dies to form a fastener from the blank. When the part is finished, there are some measuring tools, and we have to check that everything is within the allowable dimensions.

The bolts are stored in a buche (the machine’s warehouse), and when it has been verified that they are correct, they are moved to a container, and the forklift takes them to storage. The output of the machine depends on the screw itself. There are more complex fasteners; the machine needs more time because it has to move slower. We produce 120 parts per minute and around 50,000 parts per 8-hour shift.

It takes an average of approximately 1 year to be able to work with a certain degree of autonomy. There is a lot of training required to operate the machine.

What is unique about your machine, the SP48-6 press?

It is a new machine adapted to a fast and efficient series changeover. Nowadays, this is an excellent advantage as it allows you to prepare the next series before the end of the current production series. How? Very simple: The five dies that shape the screw are inserted into a metal block. My machine has two blocks, one internal and one external. So, it allows me to set up the next series before the end of the current production run.

What do you like most about your job?

What I liked the most when I joined KAMAX two years ago was the warmth of my colleagues – there was always someone ready to help. Here, colleagues are a crucial part of the smooth running of everything. The good atmosphere everywhere makes it easy to meet even outside of work.

What do you usually do when you are not at KAMAX?

I enjoy spending time with my family (parents, brother, and partner). It’s what makes me disconnect from work, and it is my driving force. Family is essential to me and recharges me with positivity and energy. In my spare time, I also like motorbikes a lot, and because of that, I studied mechanics. Nowadays, I always find time to repair a motorbike. Whenever we can, my girlfriend and I go on a trip to discover the charming villages near Valencia.
