Good things come to those who wait
Although the pandemic and the war in neighboring Ukraine have demanded a great deal from the employees in Bardejov, the new plant is now running serial part production. The goal is to generate sales of at least one million euros this year.
In the past year, KAMAX Fasteners in Bardejov has achieved several important goals, including IATF 16949 certification for its quality management system and successful evaluation of an external audit by a BMW customer. “I would also like to commend the support of our joint venture FACIL for providing the first samples,” says plant manager Jozef Mihok. “In order to perform well, it is important for us to keep up the pace and constantly improve our preparations for future projects at our plant.”
HIGHER VOLUME PLANNED
The plant is also working hard on further audits in 2022 – certification to ISO 14001 (establishment of an environmental management system) and ISO 45001 (establishment of an occupational health and safety management system). At the same time, the few small batches currently produced in Bardejov are not yet sufficient to cover the plant’s costs. To kick-start production, a first high-volume part was transferred from Homberg to Slovakia in March. With the help of global sales, more orders with higher volumes are now to be gradually won for Bardejov. This also requires that more machines have to make the journey to Eastern Europe as part of the PPA project, which involves specializing all European plants in different product groups and dimensions. At the same time, not all areas of the building have been completed yet. A second hall is under construction and will be opened this summer.

INCREASE ATTRACTIVENESS
While work on the production halls is progressing well, the interior of the offices has already been completed – spacious, functional and modern. As attracting qualified personnel is a challenge everywhere, this should provide a competitive advantage in recruiting talents and retaining experienced employees. The new design was an incentive for the Slovakian colleagues to enter into the “Office of the Year” competition. All companies in the country of 5 million inhabitants compete for the award for the best workplace.
