Taking
roots
The growth of a plant is basically a simple process. You put a seed in the ground and with regular fertilization and sufficient watering, the small plant will soon stick its head through the surface of the soil before it slowly grows larger. Depending on the species, branches or leaves eventually sprout out of the trunk and the plant begins to spread. The roots become deeper and after some time it is hard to imagine its place without it.
In a figurative sense, this is also the aim of our strategy, except that growth is to be achieved in new market segments rather than in the vegetable patch. The seeds are our products, fertilizer and water are supplied by our Sales and Technology Departments as well as Business Development. If everything works out fine, after a few years we will be represented in the relevant business areas with many more products. The best example of this is the market for e-car fasteners. KAMAX sowed seeds very early on and most of the major car manufacturers are already our customers today – first and foremost Tesla [Technology is on fire].
Elon Musk’s company is supplied by us both in Asia, America and in the future also in Europe. Daimler, Volkswagen, MAN and other manufacturers also use KX fasteners for their batteries and electric motors. “We have built up a strong network in the meantime, find out about many developments and can therefore react early”, explains Jan Herbert, Application Engineer for Daimler. This is supported by the Robert Schröder Group, which contributes a great deal of know-how to our group of companies, particularly in the area of non-bolt products (NBP).
SELECTION OF KAMAX BOLTS FOR
VEHICLES
WITH ELECTRIC MOTOR
“The range of developments we can offer for electric cars has meanwhile grown significantly. The market for these vehicles is growing by 20 to 25 percent every year. Currently, almost only passenger cars with electric motors are being developed in Europe”, as Arne Schlichting describes, who is responsible for this market segment within Business Development. “Audi wants to move away from the combustion engine as early as 2026, other manufacturers in the ten years after that at the latest. It is important for KAMAX to keep pace with this development.”
BEYOND THE MOBILITY SECTOR
But KAMAX is not only planting in the e-mobility segment. Sales is also sowing seeds in other industries with new customers, while the Technology Innovation Hub is taking care of the technical analyses and Business Development is conducting extensive market analyses. The main focus here is on the potential for KAMAX – from the various areas of mobility, through applications in industry and the handicraft, to the food industry and agriculture. It’s an elaborate process that takes a long time, as other competitors’ trees are already standing in these areas. The first successes have already been achieved. Road chisels for construction machinery are now being produced in Wujin, e-bike drives are being developed in Europe together with Robert Schröder, and progress is also being made in the area of cotton spindles.
